Supplemental Support
Veterinarian, Biologist/Researcher, Opera Singer, IT Professional are among their goals. The lives of students we support are vastly different from their wealthier peers. All Out for Change®, through donations toward our Supplemental Scholarship fund, helps financially disadvantaged, ambitious, college scholarship recipients with great potential ease their journey toward degrees, professions, and upward mobility for themselves and their families.
Supplemental Scholarship Awards are invaluable contributions to student success helping them with application fees and travel to visit schools; with quality laptops, iPads; and funds to cover the cost of college essentials, like transportation to college, $150 textbooks, clothes for interviews; all to help them stay in school and avoid racking up student loan debt.
Supplemental Scholarship funds will be awarded to the 2021 DC International Charter School (DCI) graduates throughout college, and to a new cohort of 2022 DCI college bound scholarship recipients; and Anthony Anderson, who has benefited from awards since 2017 for undergrad application fees and travel to audition that led to 3 full-ride scholarship offers, and iPad that proved invaluable, grad school application fees and travel for auditions, and replacement laptop for his old one. To learn more, read our Impact Statement.

Excellence in Education
When Anthony crossed paths with Michael their exciting journey unfolded. Eight years ago, when Anthony asked his teacher at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in DC to be his mentor, Michael reflected as he accepted the honor, “here’s a young man who has a very special talent.” See and hear what Michael foresaw back then. With 4 supplemental scholarship awards since 2017, Anthony’s achievements and good fortune have multiplied, including a full scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory, a Today Show interview, and news coverage. As he once remarked, “it takes a village!”
When our panelists crossed paths with pivotal people they embarked on exciting journeys, accomplishing things they never imagined.
From the dark corner of our educational system’s inequities some fortunate youths’ lives take a sharp turn onto an expensive unfamiliar path for their families, toward higher education. Our panelists' stories of achievements reveal that high school and college degrees and upward mobility often come down to the serendipitous appearance of: pivotal people at critical moments; and the student scholar’s courage, strength, and persistence that emerge to break through road-blocks and faltering hope and belief on a perilous journey.

We believe that youth, regardless of family wealth, deserve an opportunity to achieve. All Out for Change® helps public high school students overcome disadvantages our educational system's inequities present. The organization raises funds to cultivate competitive college and scholarship candidates, and helps full and partial-scholarship recipients with the myriad of essentials their wealthier peers’ families can afford, such as laptops, transportation to and from college, clothes for job interviews, meals, dorm and school supplies, and scholarship tuition gaps that prevent registration if not paid.

Due to the covid protocol in the DC area, we ask that all attendees be fully vaccinated. We are monitoring covid numbers and will determine whether masks will be required in the theater space or not, so please be prepared with a mask; the school has updated ventilation systems for covid. During reception times, there will be both indoor and outdoor areas where masks will be optional from 5-6pm and 7:30-8:30pm to allow all to eat and drink comfortably. We understand that Covid is still a growing issue and are trying our best to adhere to all guidelines provided by the CDC to ensure everyone's safety. *If you are not feeling well or have recently been exposed to someone who’s tested positive for covid, please don’t attend in consideration of others.*
